Discover Root 2 Rise Ny

Walking into Root 2 Rise Ny feels less like stepping into a restaurant and more like being welcomed into a neighborhood living room where food just happens to be the main event. Located at 359 Manville Rd, Pleasantville, NY 10570, United States, this diner-style spot has quietly built a loyal following among locals who care about what they eat but still want comfort on a plate. The vibe is relaxed, the staff talks to you like they’ve known you for years, and the menu reads like someone actually tested every dish before putting it out there.

The first time I visited, I went in skeptical. “Healthy” restaurants often overpromise and underdeliver on flavor. That assumption didn’t last long. I ordered one of their grain bowls after a long workday, expecting something decent at best. What arrived was layered, balanced, and filling without feeling heavy. You could taste that the vegetables were fresh, the proteins thoughtfully seasoned, and the sauces made in-house rather than poured from a bottle. According to data from the USDA on whole-food diets, meals rich in vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains tend to support more stable energy levels throughout the day, and that tracks with how I felt afterward-satisfied, not sluggish.

Their menu rotates enough to stay interesting but keeps staples that regulars clearly come back for. You’ll find wraps, bowls, smoothies, and hearty breakfast options that go beyond basic diner fare. A staff member once explained how they prep ingredients daily to maintain consistency, a process aligned with food safety guidelines from organizations like the FDA. That behind-the-scenes discipline shows up in every bite. It’s not flashy cooking, but it’s intentional, which matters more.

What really sets this place apart is how it fits into daily life in Pleasantville. I’ve seen parents stop in after school pickup, remote workers camp out with laptops, and gym-goers refuel post-workout. Reviews around town often mention how accommodating the kitchen is with dietary preferences, whether that means plant-forward choices or simple swaps. While no restaurant can guarantee meeting every single dietary need, the transparency here builds trust, and the staff is upfront about what can or can’t be adjusted.

There’s also something to be said about consistency. Over multiple visits, the quality hasn’t dipped, which is surprisingly rare. A 2023 National Restaurant Association report highlighted that consistency is one of the top factors influencing repeat visits, and this diner clearly understands that. Even during peak hours, the food comes out looking and tasting like it should. The kitchen doesn’t rush shortcuts, and that patience pays off.

The location itself adds to the charm. Sitting right on Manville Road makes it easy to pop in without planning your entire day around it. Parking is straightforward, and the interior layout keeps things casual without feeling cramped. It’s the kind of place where you overhear conversations about weekend plans and local events, which adds to that grounded, community-first feel.

One thing worth noting is that during busy lunch hours, waits can stretch a bit longer than expected. That’s not a flaw so much as a side effect of popularity and a small kitchen focused on fresh prep. If you’re in a rush, ordering ahead is the smarter move. From experience, the extra few minutes are usually worth it.

Words like freshly made, balanced flavors, and comfort without guilt come up often when people talk about this diner, and they’re accurate without being exaggerated. This isn’t a place chasing trends or trying to reinvent food culture. It’s a restaurant that understands its audience, respects ingredients, and delivers meals people genuinely feel good about ordering again and again.

  • We went to Root2Rise after hiking nearby. • The idea behind the place is cool. • They use food from organic farms, which is nice. • They have a menu without gluten, which is good for some people. • The place looks simple inside. • We saw many people picking up food to go. • I had some questions about how they package food: We ate there, but they gave us takeout boxes. They used plastic lids and plastic forks and spoons. I am not sure why they do this for people eating in the restaurant. • The food was mixed: The lasagna was very tasty. The mushroom toast was too salty. The vegetable sandwich was too plain. We had to pay extra for sauce on the sandwich. When we mixed the toast and sandwich, it tasted great. Overall, some things were good, but some could be better.

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Roots to Rise is truly a gift to our community. Founded by Chefs Jyoti Tewani and Michael Kagan, (who created the best grain free bread you will ever taste!)this restaurant has become our absolute go-to because every dish is prepared with genuine love and care. You can taste the attention to detail in every bite. I never worry about ingredients, preservatives, or sourcing—everything is thoughtfully chosen and beautifully prepared. Chef Jyoti's Ayurvedic background means the food is created with healing in mind, but don't mistake healthy for boring. These dishes are rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Whn I eat here I know I am giving my body the best! Beyond exceptional food, they've built a true community. They educate customers about wellness and food choices, and I've heard amazing stories—one regular shared how Chef Jyoti created a personalized meal plan that helped him lose weight and improve his heart condition. The customers have become like family, and it's clear why so many return again and again. Roots to Rise has created a space where we gather, connect, and nourish ourselves with food made with true integrity and heart. They go the extra mile in ways no other restaurant does. Simply put, you can feel the love they cook into every creation.

  • Ok! I LOVE this place! Love the fact that I can eat every single thing on the menu and not feel guilty nor worry about inflammation irritating my autoimmune disease! The owner is a doll! Love her! All their staff are friendly are knowledgeable about the menu. Today for lunch, was my first time here with a friend. We ate outside and ordered the Mumbai Cheese Toast, Smashed Pea Avocado toast, coffee and the Banana Granola. Loved every bit of it! Plan on coming back tomorrow to grab more items to try out the fridge, ie: Thai salad and fresh juices! I was happy to learn their Larchmont location have Wine

  • I almost stopped eating in the restaurant to write this review and tell everyone how amazing the food is. I have never eaten somewhere that is dedicated gluten free and I couldn't believe all the choices. The prices might seem high but when you compare them to the quality that you're being served, it's so worth it. I had the mac and cheese, grilled cheese, garlic bread, and a chocolate chunk cookie. Everything was absolutely delicious and I wish there was a place like this in Oklahoma where I live!

  • Five stars for the chaat samosa bowl and the mulligatawny soup. Incredible. So invigorating, so fresh. Now the gluten-free bread that comes with the soup? Gross. Smells and tastes like a pile of gym clothes. But that samosa bowl and soup? Incredible and cannot wait to get it again. The beet burger is also pretty good, especially with the spicy aioli, but nothing beats the latter dishes. Trying the tofu-bean wrap next time, too. 5 stars!!!!

  • We are on a trip from the other side of the country and this is one of the best places we’ve tried! Samosas were excellent, nachos were delicious, Mumbai toast and bean wrap were amazing. The donut and cookies were also amazing! 10/10 recommend, would come back.
